Big Rant - Prepare to get insulted!

Wed Apr 11, 2007, 4:08 AM
- Rant warning! -

Don’t you just hate it when you come to your Devinatart account to check your messages and you see that people have added every friggin picture in your gallery to their favorites and never even commented on any of them or added you to their watch list? Honestly I find this annoying.

Do you seriously think art is appreciated when someone adds them to their +favs? Let’s think about this for a second, clicking on any artwork at DA and adding it to favorites takes about 2 seconds and 2 clicks with a mouse, the result of this is that your artwork will be listed on someone’s favorite list. Let me ask you is the word “favorite” really an appropriate term?

God forbid one actually take the extreme amounts of time, work and stress to form an opinion in a few sentences and press several buttons on the keyboard in order to type a few words about the subject to the artist. “Why do I like this picture? Why do I hate this picture? Why do I EVEN CARE looking at it?”

What are you crazy? That is just waaaaay too much effort compared to all the work the artist put into actually creating the artwork! Get real, it is much better to add the picture to the list of artworks labeled as “favorites” which most probably already contains about a gazillion artworks from a gazillion different artists. Just to remember that somewhere sometime for some reason once the user saw this picture. Of course the user will not going to look at it anymore ever again after +fav-ing it. The +fav list is already so long that the user can hardly remember what he/she +fav-ed yesterday, or maybe 1 hour ago, so why bother looking at them again? Users +fav things on DA like a conveyor belt in a factory producing bricks without any meaning to the bricks produced.

So this brings me to a conclusion: if someone adds an artwork to their +fav that only proves one thing, that sometime, somewhere for some reason they looked at it for about 2 seconds (could be longer depending on how fast their connection is), nothing more. However, if someone actually takes time to stop for a moment to write a few kind words in comment that means a lot more.

Rise from your grave!

Sun Nov 26, 2006, 3:38 PM
“Rise from your grave! "[The] rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated." —Mark Twain” – m00t

Greetings everyone who still watches me!

Hmmm… where to start? I’ll just be honest okay?

So I was away from DA for almost 2 years by now. I started a comic which out of nowhere I stopped and left into the unknown never mentioning any reason for it. Irresponsible? You could say so…

It feels strange to be here again. Now I m sure most people would like to know what happened? My answer is: I don’t know! A lot has happened I lost my motivation for doing artwork, there were complications with hardware and software and so on, and I went to work at an Accounting department for 1 year. It was a year that taught me a lot about real life and myself.

I lost interest in my own comic because I felt that it was not going anywhere, I also felt that I do not have the experience to do it anymore and I was lazy to work on it. I realized that it was foolish of me to start doing such a project just out a minute inspiration of a successful artist that is Bleedman. I lost interest in Bleedman’s comic and also learned a lot about art/comics/manga in general.. I watched animes and some cartoons, I m not interested in Cartoon Network anymore because here we can only get dubbed versions with very few things and old things, I got tired of it. I decided to forgot about all this and Deviantart. I had to settle things in my head and my life.

On this weekend I decided to share this with you all. Now I am at my senior year at college and I have lot of work to do. I’ll have to write a dissertation paper by spring about 12000 words. When I have a lot of work to do I often start wondering what I could be doing instead of it, there is such a long list I cannot even begin to comprehend it.

However the passion for drawing and art is something that comes from the very self and I cannot ignore it. I did draw during this time but completely different topics, but I draw only few random pictures which never got finished. Because I realized that I do not spend enough effort on my art, I never make backgrounds, I even stopped coloring because I always felt that I coloring is bad and I’m impatient with it. I always draw line art sketches trusting that one day I will finish them but I never did. My sister said that it is worthless if I am the only one who passes judgment over what I do and that I should not have stopped showing my work to others, alone I will never get anywhere. If I want to do something I must learn to take the responsibility that come with it, and big responsibility does not come from just being Spider-Man, but from everything we do in our life. I learned that I always do things at the very minute, when I should be doing different things for my own good. Even now, I’m writing this after a Sunday midnight and I must get up early tomorrow to go to college I should have studied for tomorrow and I should have gone to bed but I’m here writing things I could have done during the day but I did not. I must learn to manage my time and manage priorities better

I decided that I should come out of the dark and try Deviantart again. Coming back will be a slow process for me.

Before you ask, I do not plan to continue the comic. (I’m not decided yet) I will not remove the comic although I was considering it. Actually I was considering on deleting my account but in the end I decided it shouldn’t go to waste.

Best wishes to all!

OMG Page 23 already?

Sat Mar 19, 2005, 5:45 PM
Hi all!

This week I just realized that we are througth the 23th page!!!

"That is not a small number, that's a big number!" as Strong Bad puts it, it s simply amazing how time flies. I can still remember when I was at page 3-4. So many things have happened during this 20 pages and I am very happy that I got here. Back it seemed to be taking forever to make even 1 page and every weeked was a fight against the deadline while thinking about how to do this and that and how to continue. For me the 23th page is a major accomplishment but it will go on I intend to finish this comic if I can!

Easter holidays are coming up next weeked and I plan to catch up with all the pages I missed and hopefully I will be able to put up some extra pages like last Tuesday.

***

Again I would like to thank to everyone who visits and reads my comic! It makes me really happy to know that I can contribute something that interests you! ^^
